About the School:
Barcelona University UAB is a public university owned by the Spanish
State. The University is the second big public university in Barcelona
with more than 50.000 students and was founded in 1968.

The Spanish course for foreigners at Barcelona University
is located in the historic building UAB Casa Convalesc�ncia,
which is situated in the central area of the city close to
the Cathedral Sagrada Fam�lia.
The Spanish courses are arranged by the School of Modern
Languages of the University of Barcelona that also arranges
other language courses. The School of Modern Languages has
more than 25

years of experience teaching foreign languages and foreign students
will be sharing the premises with over 600 local students.
The school complex at Casa Convalesc�ncia is a unique Modernist building
dating back to 1905 which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site
in 1997. In 1998 the building was completely renovated to the standards
of a modern academic centre, while preserving the details of its historic
past.
The building has a total of 35 classrooms and 4 lecture halls all
equipped with multi-media technology and audiovisual material. Apart
from this there is a multimedia room with high-speed Internet connections
that students can use free of charge.

At the Spanish courses at Barcelona University there are
students from all over the world and in all age groups and
there are no academic requirements or minimum levels needed
to participate in the Spanish courses.
The teachers of Spanish are all highly qualified with a University
degree in Philology and with postgraduate language studies.

Apart from the Spanish courses Barcelona University arrange different
free-time activities, such as guided walks through the city, visits
to museums and excursions to nearby places of interest.

Spanish Courses available at Barcelona University: Barcelona
University arranges Spanish courses throughout the year and with
starting dates each month. The Spanish courses are monthly courses
with 20 class hours per week and it is possible to study from 2
weeks to 12 months.
Apart from the Spanish courses that are held during the morning
it is possible to sign up for additional subjects that are arranged
every afternoon. Each subject is designed as a 1 week course of
10 classes and it is possible to choose between: Spanish Culture,
Communication, Art, Design, Cinema, Music and Spanish Business.
